Summary: Chiharu is a girl who's always dreamed of being a trainer. Now that day has come and she can set out on her own, but the problem is, everything seems to be going wrong! Can she succeed as a trainer with a Pokemon who hates her?
....o_o That kinda sucked. I'm bad at summaries sometimes. Ah well, here's ch. 1, please read and comment! X3
The sun shined down brightly in the sky. It was a beautiful day, almost perfect one might say. It was morning, and Bell Island's residents were enjoying the sunshine, out in their normal daily routines. Bell Island sat atop a cliff, looking over the sea. It was rather large, and most trainers in the Kohtennta region went to the Bell Island Pokemon Academy there. Not many, but a good amount of houses surrounded Bell, as well as many stores, a PokeMart, and of course, the Pokemon Lab. All of the houses looked pretty similar, good size, and peaceful. So peaceful..
"CHIHARU WAKE YOUR LAZY SELF UP DAMNIT!!" an angry voice rang out in one of the houses.
"Mm...5 more minutes...It's too early.." came the mumbled reply.
Standing in a bedroom that obviously belonged to a teenage girl, stood a woman who looked to be in her early 30's. She was about 5'7, had pink colored hair that was tied into a ponytail that didn't quite reach to her mid-back, and green eyes. The woman was dressed in a white shirt with a cooking apron over it, and blue jeans. She stood angrilly over the bed where her daughter lay sleeping, a wooden spoon in her right hand. Sleeping, or trying to, was her daughter, Chiharu. She rolled over, covering herself with her blanket; and mumbling something. Her mother sighed and tried again.
"Get up now. I spent all morning cooking a going-away breakfast for you! You need to eat it!!" she yelled.
"Ugh....Mom, i'll just eat toast or something before I leave, i'm tired.." Chiharu argued, poking her head out from under the covers.
This upset her mother, who's name was Ichigo, and she glared down at the girl. "You will eat what I made and like it young lady!" she hissed, whacking Chiharu on the head with the spoon.
"OW! Hey....fine, fine....but 3 more minutes..please..?" the girl begged, rubbing her head.
Ichigo sighed. "Three more minutes. I'm counting." she replied, leaving the room and going back downstairs. And as soon as those three minutes were up, she yelled up to her daughter, making her finally get up and go down.
So Chiharu did as she was told. She groggily walked down the stairs, yawning a bit. Chiharu's sleeping attire consisted of a large white shirt that almost went to her knees and baggy dark green pants. She herself was short, and had light pink hair, with blue colored eyes. Chiharu made it to the kitchen and sat down at the table, rubbing her eyes to try and get awake. She blinked as she saw the food. Her mother had made ALOT. There was eggs, toast, waffles, french toast, bacon, bagels, so much food! She stared down at it all and then looked to her mother, who had a wide smile on her face.
"Um....mom..? This is...alot. Like....really alot." she said, sweatdropping.
"Well of course! I had to make alot of food! Chiharu, this is your going-away day. So, you have to be extra full to start off your journey!" her mother replied cheerfully. "Go on, dig in! Your father already took some and went to work. Oh, he also told me to tell you to wait for him before you leave, because he needs to give you something."
"Ok...Thanks mom.." Chiharu said, making a plate and eating as Ichigo sat down and did the same.
After breakfast, Chiharu had hurried upstairs to get ready. This was her big day, and she couldn't be late! This was the day she'd been waiting for, the day she'd get her first Pokemon, and start off on her journey. She was excited, and wouldn't let anything mess it up. When she was finished getting dressed, she went downstairs to wait for her father, whatever he needed. Chiharu had on a blue shirt, with a white skirt that went just above her knees, and black and white tennis shoes. Also, she put on black fingerless gloves. She left her hair long, it just about reaching to her mid back, and some of it spilling over her shoulders. She put on her backpack, and was ready to go. Just then, a tall man with black hair and blue blue eyes walked in the door. He smiled warmly as he saw Chiharu. Ichigo then came in, and he kissed her on the cheek.
"Hi Dad!" Chiharu greeted with a bright smile. "So uh...what did you need? I have to be at the lab pretty soon..."
Her father, Kurosuke, smiled at her. "I just want to take you to the Mart with me. I want to have some time with you before you leave." he replied.
"Ok." she agreed. She hugged her mom, and said her goodbyes to her. She and her father then left, waving bye to Ichigo on their way out.
Kurosuke worked at the local PokeMart. He led his daughter inside and went back behind the counter. "I have some things for you." he said. "Some essential items you'll need, such as potions, and pokeballs and things."
"Ooh, really? Thanks dad!" Chiharu replied happily.
"It's no problem. Buuuut~ One thing. I have some extra money for you too, but I need you to help me out here for just a little bit. Two of my employees called in sick today, so you'll be a big help. Then I promise i'll let you go." he explained.
Chiharu's happy expression faded. "..Wha..wha..? But dad...I have to go to the lab REALLY soon...I'm not sure if I have much time, I don't wanna be late.."
"Don't worry sweetie! I assure you you'll be on time!" he said. "...Oops, almost forgot we're having a big sale today, what with the trainers going and all. Ah well, all the more reason I need your help!" he added.
Chiharu sighed, but did as she was asked. Soon enough, people, as well as many young trainers came into the PokeMart, eager to get their items from the big sale. Much more people then Kurosuke or Chiharu had expected. With few workers, and so many customers, they were rather swamped. Soon enough, the time had passed quickly, and Chiharu was becoming late. She looked at the clock and gasped, though she was in the middle of helping a customer. An older woman who couldn't decide between two brands of Pokemon food. It took her a while, and even then, Chiharu had a few more customers to tend to. When it was finally over, she was very late. She took her things from herfather, giving him a hug, and raced out of the Mart and towards the lab as fast as she could. She was frantic, her plan had been ruined and now she was late, and not just by a minute or two either. As she spazzed to herself over that, she reached the Bell Island Pokemon Lab. She swallowed, and ran inside.
"Professor Sakura Professor Sakura!!" she exclaimed frantically. Professor Sakura peeked out from another room and sighed.
"Ah, so you finally came.." she said, coming out and looking at Chiharu.
Chiharu nodded. "Yes, and i'm SO sorry! I got held up at the PokeMart and--"
"No need for excuses, at least you're here." Sakura replied. It was no surprise to her Chiharu was late, she usually was. It was only to be
expected from her.
"Well...can I please have my starter now..?" Chiharu asked.
Sakura nodded, and went to where she kept the starters. "..Oh my.." she said after a moment.
"..What's wrong?"
"Um..Chiharu..It seems...it seems all the starters have been taken up. I'm sorry..." Sakura said, frowning.
"...Wha...wha...taken..up...? All of them..? But..." Chiharu was crushed. All the starters, gone. Her dream, crushed, she couldn't get a
Pokemon...or could she? "..I...uh....so there's nothing left..?"
Sakura thought for a moment. "Well..."
"Well?" Chiharu's eyes lit up with a flicker of hope.
"I...do have...something but...I'll warn you...it's not the most..stable, Pokemon.."
"I'LL TAKE IT!!" Chiharu exclaimed. Anything would do, as long as she could go on her Pokemon journey.
Professor Sakura went to the back of the lab and got a pokeball, then returning with it. She handed it to Chiharu, who clung to it joyously. Sakura then gave her a trainer pack and a PokeNav. "Alright, that's that. Be careful with that Pokemon, and good luck!" she said, smiling at the girl.
"Thank you so much Professor Sakura! I'll take good care of it I promise!" Chiharu said gleefully. She said her goodbyes to Sakura, and then left the lab. She was so happy! She now had her first Pokemon, and could start her journey, she'd wanted it forever, and now it could happen. But as Chiharu got wrapped up in her thoughts, something came to her: the ferry! The ferry that left for Hoenn where she could actually start her journey was going to be leaving! She had no idea if she could still catch it, but she had to try. She ran frantically to the docks, and saw the ferries were just about to set sail.
"WAAAIIT!!" she yelled. "Pleasepleaseplease let me on!! I'm sorry i'm late, but I NEED to board a ferry to the Hoenn region!" she begged the sailors at the docks. They looked at her as she begged. Somewhat reluctantly, they brought back the ferry, which had not gone far, and let her on. Chiharu sighed with relief then as it started leaving Bell Island. She knew she wouldn't be back there for a while, and that excited her. Everything was exciting, this new chapter of her life she was about to embark on. She smiled down at the pokeball in her hands. She wondered what was inside, though she thought it best not to look till she made it on land.
"Well if it isn't little Chiharu!" a snotty voice called out, breaking Chiharu from her little world.
Chiharu looked over to see her rival. "..Kazuko..." she said.
The girl smirked. "Yep. So I see you've got a Pokemon. Surprising, you actually got there. I figured you would've been too late to get
anything." she said. Kazuko was taller than Chiharu, and had navy blue wavyish hair that she tied back into a pony tail, deep blue eyes,
and with a smug, confident smirk of her face. She wore a sleeveless white shirt, and short blue-jean shorts, with white tennis shoes. "So,
Chiharu, what Pokemon did you get?" she questioned.
Chiharu blushed slightly at that comment, and then looked down at the pokeball in her hands. "I...uh..what Pokemon did you get?"
"I have a wonderful Mudkip. But what sorry Pokemon did you end up with?" Kazuko persisted.
".....I....I don't know yet ok!? ...I was late...and Professor Sakura was out of starters..so...she gave me some random Pokemon, I don't know what it is...yet." Chiharu confessed, embarrassed.
Kazuko laughed. "Pathetic. I should've expected as much. I bet it's a Rattata or Pidgey or something. Hah, either way I feel sorry for it, having you for a trainer."
"Shut up!" Chiharu shouted angrilly. Oh how she hated this girl.
"Sure, whatever. Catch you around Chiharu." Kazuko said, leaving, still snickering a bit.
Chiharu sighed and looked at the pokeball. "...You're gonna be better than she thinks, I know it.."

When the ferry made it's way to Hoenn, it let everyone off. They were in the middle of Petalburg City and Petalburg Forest. All the trainers got off, and went their separate ways. Chiharu smiled as she stepped onto the sand. It was a good feeling, being free like this. She started walking, she was going to go through Petalburg Forest and to Rustboro City, where she could compete for her first gym badge. Just then, Kazuko approached her.
"...What do you want now?" she asked, annoyed.
"Oh nothing. Just to wish you a bit of good luck. You're going to need it after all, considering how pathetic you are Chiharu. A starter you don't even know...ha! Well seeya, i'm going to check out Petalburg~" Kazuko said, and left.
Chiharu fumed, that Kazuko pissed her off so much! A starter she didn't know huh? She'd show her. It was time she met her starter. Chiharu took out the pokeball, and released the pokemon inside into the grass. "So let's see, what are you.." she said to herself anxiously as the light slowly disappeared from the pokemon.
When the light disappeared, standing there was a yellow, furry, mouse-like creature, with red cheeks and a lightning bolt shaped tail. It was rather small, with black-tipped ears, and was adorable. A wide smile appeared on Chiharu's face as her Pokemon was revealed to her. A Pikachu! How cute, she thought.
"Awww...hi Pikachu! I'm Chiharu! I'm your trainer, it's nice to meet you!" she greeted the Pokemon cheerfully, bringing her hand down to pat it on the head.
The Pikachu looked up curiously at the pink haired girl. This was his new trainer? He didn't want a trainer in the first place, but this girl didn't look like much, not something he wanted to be forced to be with. He shook his head to get her to take her hand away, and then looked up at her again. He didn't like her. Not at all.
Chiharu blinked. "Um....hi..?" she said, confused. Pikachu simply looked away. He then scampered off. "Eh? hey wait!" she called, going after him.
He stopped, and looked back at her. Chiharu held out his pokeball, trying to call him back. At the sight of this, Pikachu glared. "Pika!" he said. Chiharu blinked, and red light came from the ball, which Pikachu dodged. Sparks came from it's red cheeks, and he quickly gave Chiharu a light shock.
"Meep! Ow, hey!! What was that for..?" she said, taken back by the shock. "Please don't do that.." she said, looking down at her Pokemon. She sighed as he glared at her. "Come on Pikachu, come back inside now..." she said, preparing to call him back again. And yet again, Pikachu shocked her. "OWW!! Pikachu!! That's not funny!" she exclaimed. Pikachu just smirked, pleased with himself. Chiharu looked at him, her smile now turned into a frown. "Pikachu, please...I get it, you don't like pokeballs...so, I won't make you go back in. But please, don't shock me anymore..I just want to be friends.." she pleaded.
"..Chu." he replied, looking away a bit. She blinked, and tried to pet him again. Before she could touch him, he shocked her yet again, causing her to fall backwards.
"Pikachuuuu! Ugh!" she exclaimed again. She was happy to have a Pokemon, but....this one seemed to hate her. What had she done..? "Pikachu...I don't know what I did but...We have to get going...I'd like to get to Rustboro City soon..." she said, standing up. Pikachu glanced at her and said nothing, just sat there. After a moment, he scurried up a nearby tree, looking down at her with a smirk. She sighed, this wasn't turning out like she'd hoped...at all.
"Um...excuse me...are you alright?" a sweet, timid voice asked.
Chiharu looked to see a girl about her age standing there. She had long golden blonde hair tied up in a pony tail, and light green colored eyes. She was dressed in a white shirt covered by a black jumper(AN: I think that's the right word..), and had a concerned look on her face.
"Oh, um, yes.." Chiharu replied, looking down slightly. Pikachu watched from up in the tree.
"Good. I'm sorry to bother you, I was just passing by and I saw you and noticed you seemed a bit upset.." the girl said sheepishly.
Chiharu smiled sweetly at her. "I'm fine. Thanks for your concern though. By the way, I'm Chiharu Hinamori, and i'm a beginner Pokemon trainer. Who are you?" she asked.
"I'm Miszu. Miszu Hiiragi. ..I'm also a beginning trainer." she replied with a smile.
"Ah,well it's nice to meet you, Miszu!" Chiharu said happily.
"Nice to meet you too!" Miszu said.
"Where are you headed, if you don't mind me asking?" Chiharu asked.
"Oh, I'm on my way to Rustboro...what about you?" she replied.
"Same. Well....maybe I'll catch you around there?"
"Yes, maybe! It was nice meeting you, Chiharu." Miszu said, smiling sweetly.
"You too. Bye." Chiharu said as Miszu turned and left towards the Petalburg Forest. She seemed like a really nice girl, Chiharu was happy they met. She hoped they could meet again in Rustboro. ...That is, if she could ever get to Rustboro. Chiharu sighed and looked up the tree at her Pikachu. "..Are you ready to come down now..?" she asked.
Pikachu stuck his tongue out at her, and turned around so she was facing his back. Chiharu sighed again. She waited a few more minutes. Nothing.
"...Fine. You know what? I don't need you! I'll catch my own Pokemon! I'm going to Rustboro now, whether you come or not!" Chiharu said sternly, fed up. She turned on her heel and began walking towards the entrance of the woods. Pikachu blinked and looked down, seeing her walk away. She was seriously going to leave without him. He was pleased but, she was also incredibly fun to mess with. If he followed, he could torture her more. He smirked mischivously, and jumped down, quickly going after her.
Chiharu stopped as she heard him catch up to her. She turned around and looked at him. "So..you're coming afterall? ..Does this mean we can start over and you'll listen to me..?" she asked.
Pikachu turned his head away. "Kachu." he replied simply. She took that as a no, and sighed. Well, at least he was coming with her..so maybe some day she could make peace with him. With that, she turned around and continued on walking, as Pikachu followed.
Just as the two reached the forest' entrance, a rustle in the nearby bushes was heard. Both looked over to see what it was. Out came a Rattata. It looked at Chiharu and Pikachu, and stood it's ground. Chiharu blinked with surprise, and then smiled. Her first wild pokemon battle!
"Ok! Go Pikachu!" she called excitedly, gesturing for Pikachu to go face the Rattata.
"..Chu." Pikachu said, turning his head.
"...Eh? Come on Pikachu!"
"Chu Pika."
"...Come on! Pleeeaaase? Please!? Pikachuuuu!" Chiharu begged.
"Pi Pika." Pikachu remained stubborn.
At this, Rattata looked at the two oddly. It then ran off back into some bushes. Chiharu sighed, and went into Petalburg Forest with Pikachu. This was going to be hard...really hard....
